Two-Cross One-Line Rally Drill
This drill is designed for team practices and group lessons, making it effective for players of all skill levels. It emphasizes rhythm, accuracy, and rally control while keeping players engaged in a competitive format.
Setup
- Two players start at the middle of the baseline, one on each side
- Additional players wait outside the court, ready to rotate in
Rules & Objectives
- Begin the rally with two crosscourt shots, followed by one down-the-line shot
- Continue the sequence: two crosscourt, one down-the-line repeated continuously
- If a player makes an error, they rotate out and a new player steps in
- The drill can also be started from the opposite side to vary angles and positioning
- Play for 10 minutes or in timed rounds, tracking which pair sustains the sequence the longest
- Variations:
- Track the number of successful sequences and compare scores across different pairs
- Progress from cooperative rallying to competitive point play after the sequence
- Use both singles and doubles alleys depending on player level
