Soccer Warm Up # 1 Training Drill

Setup
- 2 groups
- 1 grid (15 x 20yds)
- cones to mark off area
- each player of one group with a ball
- 5 min
Rules & Objectives
- the player without the ball performs various physical exercises (jumping jacks, squat jumps, push ups, stretches etc.)
- the players with the ball dribble around the grid and make self-passes around the players without a ball
- the players are awarded a point for each pass
- switch roles after 2-3 minutes
- player/group with most points wins
Variations
- specify how players must dribble (inside or outside of foot, sole, left or right foot only etc.)
- the players without the ball are laying on their stomach (the players with the ball flick the ball over the players laying and jump over their legs)
- the players without the ball are in a push up position with their hands and feet on the ground like a bridge (the players with the ball pass the ball underneath and receive the ball at the other end)
- the players without the ball are doing jumping jacks (the players with the ball try to pass it through their legs)
- the players without the ball is doing jump headers on the spot (the players with the ball pass the ball under the other player's feet when they are off the ground)
- the players without the ball run on the spot and raise their knees as high as possible (the players with a ball make a pass past the player on one side and run around the other side to receive their own pass)
- the players without a ball side shuffles from side to side for appr. 3 yards (the players with a ball make a pass past the player on one side and run around the other side to receive their own pass)
