Soccer Dribbling Warm Up – Cool Down Training Drill

Setup

  • 8 cones to mark off area. 10 cones to be randomly placed in grid (one less than # of players)
  • 1 ball per player
  • 5-10 min

Rules & Objectives

  • players dribble inside the playing area
  • on coach's command, players must dribble and stop their ball dead by one of the cones
  • player who doesn't find a cone does 10x toe taps (push ups, squat jumps etc.)

Variations

  • specify how players must dribble (inside or outside of foot, left or right foot only etc.)
  • coach starts taking away cones each round
  • on coach's command players must perform a specific move and then dribble their ball to a cone
  • on coach's command players must swap balls and then dribble their ball to a cone
  • on coach's command players must dribble around two cones and then dribble their ball to a third one
  • adjust spacing depending on the age and ability of the group if necessary
