Soccer Doctor Tag Training Drill

Setup

  • cones to mark off area
  • 1 ball per player
  • 10-15 min

Rules & Objectives

  • play with two or three designated taggers who dribble a ball
  • once a player gets tagged he must hold/cover that area of the body that was tagged with his hand
  • he keeps on dribbling avoiding other tags
  • if players are tagged a second time they now must hold both (tagged) spots
  • if the player is tagged a 3rd time, the player must go to the outside of the grid and perform an
  • exercise such as 20 toe touches, 2 or more juggles, 10 tick-tocks or dribble around grid once before rejoining the game

Variations

  • play with one or two designated taggers without a ball
  • play same game as above where all players try to tag one another
  • adjust spacing depending on the age and ability of the group if necessary
