Soccer Cone Sprint Training Drill

Setup

  • large grid (20 x 20yds) & small grid (7 x 7yds)
  • good supply of cones
  • 1 ball per player
  • 5-10 min

Rules & Objectives

  • players dribble inside the small grid
  • on coach's command all players dribble around a cone from the large grid and then dribble back into the small grid
  • last player to be back inside the small grid does a fun exercise

Variations

  • specify how players must dribble (inside or outside of foot, sole, left or right foot only etc.)
  • play in teams and see what team makes it back into the grid first
  • on coach's command players swap balls before they leave the inner grid
  • adjust spacing depending on the age and ability of the group
