Soccer Body Part Tag Training Drill

Setup

  • grid (15yds x 20yds)
  • cones to mark off area
  • 1 ball per player
  • 5-10 min

Rules & Objectives

  • everybody is “it”
  • each time a player tags another player on the knee he receives a point
  • player with most points after 90 seonds wins

Variations

  • specify how players must dribble (left or right foot, inside or outside foot etc.)
  • play with 2 teams (one team are the designated taggers and the other team the runners - switch
  • roles after 2 minutes and compare scores)
  • players must tag the elbow, ankle or back etc.
  • adjust spacing depending on the age and ability of the group if necessary

  • close control of the ball at all times
  • attack open space
  • head up
  • low center of gravity

Difficulty: Beginner

Emphasis: Dribbling
