Soccer Attackers vs Defenders # 3 Training Drill

Setup

  • 2 teams
  • 4 attackers vs. 4 defenders
  • 1 goalie
  • grid (30yds x 40yds)
  • cones to mark off area
  • 1 goal
  • pinnies
  • 15-20 min

Rules & Objectives

  • the attacking team tries to score as many goals as possible within 5 minutes
  • if defenders win the ball they try to keep possession for as long as possible
  • switch roles after 5 minutes
  • team with most goals after 2 rounds wins
  • kick-ins only

Variations

  • minimum of 2-3 touches
  • defending team scores by keeping the ball for 10 seconds
  • defending team can score by connecting 5 passes
  • play 5v4, 6v4 etc.
  • add neutral player
  • adjust spacing depending on the age and ability of the group
