Soccer 4v4+1 Two Adjacent-Goals Training Drill

Setup

  • 2 teams
  • 2 goalies
  • grid (40yds x 50yds)
  • cones to mark off area
  • 2 goals
  • pinnies
  • 15-20 min

Rules & Objectives

  • each team defends one designated goal
  • both teams can use the negative target (target has two touches) for support
  • if ball goes out of bounce or goal is scored it is distributed back in by the neutral target player from end line

Variations

  • add a second target player (1 or 2 touches for target) between the two goals
  • attacking team can score on both goals while the defending team tries to keep possession for 7
  • seconds or dribble across end line opposite from the goals to switch roles
  • play 5v5, 6v6, 7v7, 8v8 etc.
  • adjust size of field if necessary
