Soccer Shooting Exercise # 5 Training Drill

Setup

  • 2 goalies
  • good supply of cones
  • 2 goals
  • 1 ball per player
  • 10-15 min

Rules & Objectives

  • the first player of one team dribbles towards the opposing goal and finishes on goal
  • once the shot is taken the first player in line of the other team starts dribbling towards the opposing goal
  • next the first shooter becomes the recovering defender and attempts to put pressure on the opponent
  • repeat sequence
  • teams switch roles after 4-6 minutes

Variations

  • players get substituted if they commit a foul or get the ball out of bounce
  • adjust spacing depending on the age and ability of the group if necessary

  • Attacking: quality of preparation touch

  • Attacking: get defender off balance
  • Attacking: change speed &direction
  • Attacking: quick finish
