Soccer Shooting Exercise # 5 Training Drill

Setup
- 2 goalies
- good supply of cones
- 2 goals
- 1 ball per player
- 10-15 min
Rules & Objectives
- the first player of one team dribbles towards the opposing goal and finishes on goal
- once the shot is taken the first player in line of the other team starts dribbling towards the opposing goal
- next the first shooter becomes the recovering defender and attempts to put pressure on the opponent
- repeat sequence
- teams switch roles after 4-6 minutes
Variations
- players get substituted if they commit a foul or get the ball out of bounce
- adjust spacing depending on the age and ability of the group if necessary

- Attacking: quality of preparation touch
- Attacking: aggressive and positive mentality
- Attacking: placement versus power
- Attacking: get defender off balance
- Attacking: change speed &direction
- Attacking: quick finish
- Defending: angle and speed of approach
- Defending: timing and decision to tackle
