Racket Roll & Meet Game
This fun coordination game helps young players develop racket control, timing, and ball awareness. By rolling balls toward each other and trying to meet in the middle, kids practice proper contact technique while learning to control the racket face and movement. It’s a simple, engaging way to build fundamentals for beginners.
Setup
- Players paired up, standing opposite each other on the same side of the court
- Each player with one ball and a racket
- Balls placed on the ground in front of each player
Rules & Objectives
- On the coach’s command, both players use their racket to roll their ball toward their partner
- The goal is for the two balls to meet in the middle and collide
- If the balls hit, the pair earns one point
- Retrieve the balls and reset to starting positions
- Repeat on the coach’s command
- Rotate partners after several rounds for variety
Repetition
- Play multiple rounds, comparing scores between pairs
- Vary distance between players (closer for beginners, farther for advanced)
- Require forehand-only or backhand-only rolls
- Use different ball types (foam balls, red/orange balls, soccer balls, basketballs)
Coaching Points
- Develops racket control and proper contact technique (out in front and to the side, not directly behind)
