Soccer Match Condition Training Drill

Setup
- 2 teams
- multiple 1v1s (players can only defend a designated player and cannot tackle another attacker)
- 2 goalies
- grid (30yds x 40yds)
- cones to mark off area
- 2 goals
- pinnies
- 15-20 min
Rules & Objectives
- 3 points if goal scorer beats defender with a move
- 1 point to beat a defender
- finish session without restriction
Variations
- rotate players every 2-3 goals
- no forward passes in attacking half
- adjust spacing depending on the age and ability of the group if necessary

- explosiveness
- exploit space
- get defender off balance
- change of speed &direction
- protect the ball
- take on defender
