Soccer Knock Out # 2 Training Drill

Setup

  • good supply of cones
  • 1 ball per player
  • 5-15 min

Rules & Objectives

  • on coach's command two players knock their own balls out of the grid and attempt to knock out everybody
  • else's ball for 30 seconds
  • switch pair of taggers each round
  • the pair with the most points wins

Variations

  • specify how players must dribble (left or right foot, inside or outside foot etc.)
  • start activity without balls as a warm up
  • only followers dribble a ball

Coaching Points

  • vary number of taggers
  • taggers must carry their balls
  • mark off a save zone for dribblers to be in for 5 seconds max
  • adjust spacing depending on the age and ability of the group

Difficulty: Intermediate

Emphasis: Dribbling

Age Group: 12 to 15, 16+, 5 to 7, 8 to 11
