Soccer Hunter Ball Training Drill

Setup

  • cones to mark off area
  • 1 ball per player (except for hunters)
  • 10-15 min

Rules & Objectives

  • on coach's command hunters try to get possession of the ball first and then pick it up with their hands
  • player who loses his ball to a hunter becomes a hunter himself
  • last player to dribble a ball wins
  • switch hunters

Variations

  • vary number of hunters depending on skill level
  • player who loses his ball must dribble around the grid before he can rejoin the game (hunters win if all players are off the grid)
  • if ball is lost player switches role with hunter (no tag backs)
  • adjust spacing depending on the age and ability of the group if necessary
