Service Box Touch Game
This warm-up game is designed to prepare players for practice or match play by focusing on touch, precision, and footwork in a controlled environment. By playing points in the service boxes with underhand feeds, players develop feel for the ball and accuracy while gradually warming up their bodies for more intense drills.
Setup
- Two players start on opposite service boxes, crosscourt from each other
- One ball in play (coach with basket optional)
- Matches scored to 11 points
Rules & Objectives
- The first rally begins with an underhand feed crosscourt into the service box
- Players play out the point within the two service boxes
- No net approaches are allowed at the start, but this condition can be relaxed later
- Each point begins with a new underhand feed, alternating servers
- After the first pair plays, rotate with the next two players waiting at the baseline
- Continue until all players have played, then have winners face each other and losers face each other
Repetition
- Play to 11 points for each game, switching serves after each point
- Emphasize soft hands and touch rather than pace
- Later in the drill, allow net approaches for added variety
- Narrow the target area to increase difficulty
