Bounce-and-Catch Reaction Drill

This drill develops hand-eye coordination, quick reactions, and footwork. The coach throws balls randomly into the service box, requiring the player to anticipate, move quickly, and catch after one bounce. By immediately returning the ball to the coach, the player stays active and engaged while improving reaction timing.

Setup

  • Coach stands on one side of the net with several balls
  • Player positions at the opposite service box, ready to move

Rules & Objectives

  • Player lets the ball bounce once, catches it, and throws it back to the coach
  • Coach immediately tosses the next ball to a new location (deep, wide, or high)
  • Player must adjust quickly, move to the ball, and repeat the catch-and-return sequence
  • Continue the drill for a set duration or number of tosses
