Soccer Lose Your Shadow # 2 Training Drill

Setup
- in pairs
- grid (20yds x 30yds)
- cones to mark off area
- 1 ball per pair
- 5-10 min
Rules & Objectives
- each pair decides on a leader and shadow
- players face each other
- leader dribbles and tries to get his partner off balance by doing moves, fakes, faints etc.
- shadow player without the ball moves sideways and backwards trying to keep same distance (he does not try to
- tackle the ball!)
- on coach's command players freeze and the shadow must be within arms length (one point for the leader if the
- shadow can't touch him otherwise one point for the follower)
- switch roles after 1-2 minutes
- players compare scores after 2(4) rounds
Variations
- shadow dribbles a ball as well
- switch partners every other round
- adjust spacing depending on the age and ability of the group if necessary
